Biozone Bioinformatics Workshop



"Recent trends in Bioinformatics" workshop organized by Department of Biosciences on 10th – 12th March 2010. On the First Day, Our Chairman, Dr. Thomas P John, Inaugurated the Workshop and gave a Speech about the Latest Trends in Bioinformatics. He also encouraged the Students to make use of this workshop for their career opportunities. Our beloved Campus Director Wg. Cdr. (Retd.) P. Sambasivan emphasized the Significance of the Workshop towards career building. Dr. George Easaw, Principal, T. John College enlightened and encouraged the students to utilize the workshop as an opportunity to hone their skills in the newly emerging field of Bioinformatics.

Three Experts from "Biozone Research Technologies", Miss. Vadivukkarasi, Miss. Lakshmi Priya and Mr. Saravanan highlighted the basic tools of bioinformatics. They paid individual attention and care to all the participants to handle the Tools of Bioinformatics. They also entertained the trouble shoots and queries of the students faced during the workshop.

The Students from Oxford college and Faculties from Vijaya college took Part in this Workshop and gained the basic knowledge related to bioinformatics tools and to handle them in a wise manner.

The Second Day of the Workshop started by 9am and went on smoothly till 3.30pm. The students had continuous interaction and clarified their doubts with the experts and also worked the Bioinformatics tools individually.

On the Final Day, the session started at 9 am and went on smoothly till 3.30pm. The Students worked with Drug Docking Software tools and gained the immense knowledge about the designing of a Drug. At the End of the Day Certificates were issued to Students by Our Campus Director, Principal T.John College, Dr.Shridharan Principal, T.John Institute of Management & Sciences, and Dr. Nilanjana Basu Head Department of Biosciences.

The Students from Oxford College and Faculties were very much fascinated by the workshop, the manner in which the queries and troubleshoots were handled by the experts. They were very much satisfied by the knowledge gained from the workshop. This was reflected in their positive feedback. They suggested to have workshops of such kind in future.
